As a reminder, ParentSquare is your one-stop shop for all things Sunnybrook. We post updates, news, celebrations, and more in ParentSquare. ParentSquare is also where you will make any of your payments and fill out permission slips. This is also the system that does our emergency calls for issues like late buses, severe weather, as well as important information we need you to know about.
It is important that you keep your contact information updated in PowerSchool as that information feeds over to ParentSquare. Individuals who are marked as "Lives with" or "Custody of" in PowerSchool are automatically set up and updated in ParentSquare. Anyone not marked in those categories will not be loaded into ParentSquare.
If we have a valid email on file for you, you will receive all ParentSquare communication via email. We also encourage you to log into ParentSquare and download the app so you get push notifications and have easy access to all things ParentSquare. In your settings, you can even choose to get updated via text message. Your username for ParentSquare is the same one that you use for PowerSchool.
We want to make sure all parents are receiving notifications in the manner in which they want to receive them and in the language in which they prefer to receive them. Here is a cheat sheet that will show you how to change your delivery settings and language settings.
If you need to find an old post, you can use the search bar at the top of the screen. Just type a few words for what you are looking for and any posts associated with those words will appear.
If you ever wonder if a post is for you, it is. If you receive a post, it is associated with you or your child. You should not see posts not related to you. So rest assured - if you see it, it is for you.

Ms. Contino and Ms. Murray had their second graders involved in activities focused on practicing teamwork.
Students were to work as a team to put a puzzle together. After 5-7 minutes, the groups rotated to the next puzzle to continue working on what the previous group had done. It was so much fun!

During the week of September 2–5, Nathan Hale’s library was transformed into an elegant “restaurant,” serving up a menu of mouthwatering books for students in Kindergarten through fourth grade.
Through a fun and interactive Book "Tasting” stations activity, students sampled a variety of literary genres, authors, and titles available in the library. Just like trying new foods, students “tasted” their choices of books by exploring covers, reading a few pages, and reflecting on whether they’d like to dive in further.
The event was a wonderful success, sparking curiosity, excitement, and plenty of smiles as students discovered their next great reads!

The students in Mrs. Pasko's class made pencils out of pool noodles. The students had to attach the pink small noodle(which were used for the eraser tops)to the yellow noodle with gray tape. They needed to measure evenly to attach the 2 colors together with the gray tape. For the bottom of the pencil, the students used brown paper that was curled up to form the point and colored black for the point. The students did a great job.

Our Pre-K littles have been discussing all the feelings we can have. We have read books like "The way I feel" and "The color monster." We practiced our facial expressions in our large group and then we made a fun feelings chart with our faces. We will continue to help our students build their social emotional skills for themselves and also for those around them. We are learning how to be great friends and classmates. These kids are so bright and we love to hear all about their feelings everyday, and believe me there are tons of feelings everyday. ;-)

On Friday, August 22, 2025, Heritage students attended the annual "Sorting Day" for the Heritage Houses. Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders cheered on the fifth graders as they entered the gym. They shouted, "Purple, yellow, orange, green!" over and over again. A large basket of golden eggs awaited the excited fifth graders. Each fifth grader took an egg from the basket and opened it to find out to which House they will belong for their remaining years at Heritage. The gym exploded with House chants and team camaraderie! House leaders gave each new house member a token to welcome them into the community. The teachers were dressed as house mascots, and most students donned their house colors. What a great way to end the first week of school!

Students in Mrs. Labok’s 6th grade ELA class are enjoying her new digital library system to help make it easier to find high interest books. The books are color-coded by genre, and students can search for specific titles, authors, topics, or genres in her online library. They can also see which books are currently available. They go to the corresponding section in her library to get their chosen book. Since her new system started last week, over one hundred students have been able to check out a book from her classroom library. Mrs. Labok’s goal is to help students identify their own book preferences to help foster a lifelong love of reading.

The students in fifth grade Project Based Learning/Financial Literacy class used fraction bar manipulatives to draw and solve financial problems in class while having so much fun in the process. They were able to solve the problems and grasp the concepts with ease using the materials. They then transferred that knowledge into drawing what they made with the fraction bars.
Other grade levels have been playing a financial literacy game designed to teach the concepts of spending wisely, saving, and making wise financial choices. They had a blast learning these concepts while playing a fun and engaging educational game!

In Communications class, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students are deep diving into vocabulary using the Wordly Wise Workbook. We studied fifteen new vocabulary words and used them in context. Our first eighth grade lesson had the word "brusque" in it. When I mentioned to students that these words will likely show up in books, articles, and digital media platforms now that the words are becoming a part of their knowledge base, Ashley Rincon-Saucedo raised her hand and exclaimed, "I was reading an online article and saw the word brusque. It was great to know what it meant." Students will continue working their way through the lessons and incorporating new vocabulary into their everyday lives.
