We hope that you enjoy the new site as we updated the look, proved more information, in a more organized fashion. This was just another step in continuing to help keep everyone informed of what is happening at Sunnybrook and keeping us a world class institution for learning for the Lansing and Lynwood communities.

Summer Construction has Begun

It's that time again for summer construction to continue to beautify the buildings here at Sunnybrook. Last summer we working on the front of Nathan Hale and now it is time to work on Heritage. You can see that work is underway. We will keep everyone up to date on the construction progress via the Scoop and also on out website under the Facilities and Maintenance page. So keep an eye out and watch the progress as it is going to make a difference. We are doing work to the district and main office along with an expansion of the nurses office. All of this will help to facilitate a more efficient and safer school. We just ask everyone to be mindful when around the front of Heritage and abide by all signs and barriers to keep everyone safe.

Our District Mathletes Made an Impact

On Thursday, May 1st and Friday May 2nd, Sunnybrook had students in grades 1-8 participate in the South Cook Math Bowl at Prairie State College. Schools from all over southern Cook County demonstrated their math skills in both independent and team events. All of the students who attended the competition worked hard during the winter and spring months to prepare for the annual meeting of math minds. Our middle school students were able to secure some notable wins again this year. Lucase Dixon placed 5th overall out of all of the 8th grade students who competed. The 5th and 6th grade team that represented us placed fourth in their team event and the 7th and 8th grade team placed second in their team event.

An MVP was chosen from each school district for each day of the contest. Fifth grader, Mason Alvarez received the honor on Thursday and fourth grader, Justin Taylor received it on Friday. All of the students had an amazing time and were able to showcase their math skills. Congratulations to everyone on a job well done.
